Yuridia in the Beginning
Born October 4, 1986, Yuridia Francisca Gaxiola Flores hails from Hermosilla, Mexico. From an early age, Yuridia showed an interest in music. Having participated in many competitions when she was a child, Yuridia first experience with performing on stage came with La Academia. A Mexican reality musical talent show, La Academia in its fourth year in 2005 invited Yuridia to participate. With 18 contestants hailing from all over Mexico and a couple from the US, Yuridia for the first time found herself performing on stage. She had previously limited her singing and performances to family and small local competitions. On an internationally televised stage, Yuridia found the confidence she needed. Yuridia performed well and just fell short of the top spot when she lost to Erasmo Gonzalez. The loss, however, did not deter this passionate artist and she quickly moved on to bigger and better things.

The album consisted mostly of covers of various international rock songs. The first single of the album was a cover of Bon Jovi’s This aint a Love Song. This album was certified Platinum and Gold by the AMPROFON with four hundred and fifty thousand sales and Platinum twice by the RIAA with two hundred thousand sales.
