 Young the Giant is a uniquely entertaining alternative rock musical group that has gathered much popularity especially among older teens and twenty and thirty-something crowds with their smash hit 2011 singles My Body, Cough Syrup and Apartment, all three of which have received peak positions on US and Canadian charts. Their album by the same name released through Roadrunner label, climbed up to prominently high places in the US and UK charts. The band consists of front man Sameer Gadhia doing the lead vocals, Eric Cannata and Jacob Tilley strumming the guitar, Payam Doostzadeh on the bass guitar and Francois Comtois beating the drums. The band was previously known as The Jakes, and was signed by their current label Roadrunner only recently in 2009, releasing their EP album the following year. The initial members of Young the Giant came together in 2004 while still living in California in Irvine. At the time in 2008, when they released their EP titled Shake My Hand, the members consisted of the current lineup with two of the musicians still making their way through their high school phase while the rest were busy getting hold of college degrees. Their EP was recorded in assistance from Kikpatrick, the band’s then producer, right after which the group artists decided to immediately pursue their musical career and putting their education on hold. Jason Burger, who was originally working with the band, quite in order to develop a freelance style solo music career in the city of New York. In the absence of Burger, current drummer Francois Comtois, came in to fill the gap. Soon afterwards the group’s good friend Payam Doostzadeh, who had been involved in the band’s collaborative activities, also stepped in as the bassist. The group still called itself the Jakes at this stage of their career.
 
By 2009, the Giants were all ready to take over the rock front and began this noble endeavor by performing four successful shows in Austin where the music festival of South by Southwest was scheduled to take place.  Young the Giant received further encouragement when their hot track called Texas Tea was featured on an episode of one of MTV’s high profile shows called The Real World: Brooklyn. Another one of their exciting high tempo tunes Paid the Piper was played on A&E channel’s show The Beast. Alongside all this sudden popularity, the band took few steps further into the league of main stage bands when their track Cough Syrup was put on much airplay on the KROQ radio station that is based in Los Angeles. All these events culminated strategically into getting the band signed with Roadrunner Records in the month of August, right after which, Ehson Hashemian who was their keyboardist left the group. A few months later they finally renamed themselves Young the Giant.
 
Young the Giant have established themselves as a tremendously energetic, wildly touring band that naturally has the knack for playing hot live shows. They spent 2010 heavily touring with Steel Train and Minus the Bear while still working on their courageously innovative opening act album with Joe Chicarelli taking care of the production side. The group performed extra shows with other upcoming and hit bands such as Neon Trees, New Politics, The Futureheads and Marina and the Diamonds. Their popularity had already streamed its way into rock fans before the release of their album, when their already loved tracks titled I Got, Strings, and My Body leaked to appear online. 
 
The band has made it big in no time with its potentially explosive artistic disposition to go on growing musically to the heights of legendary bands that were the very pioneers of rock. In fact, the band’s abilities became obvious with the official release of their very first single called My Body that climbed up to the number five spot immediately on the US Billboard charts of Alternative Songs.
