The Career of YG

In 2012, the hip-hop artist announced that he would release a debut album under the production of fellow rapper, Syla$, titled I’m 4rm Bompton. However, in June, of 2013, it was announced that the album would now be released under Young Jeezy’s record label CTE World. Things changed further when in November of 2013, the singer announced that this debut album would now be called My Krazy Life, and would be released through Def Jam Records. Other announcements made included that Drake would be featured on one of the album’s songs “Who Do You Love?” and the album’s lead single “My Nigga” would feature the artist Rich Homie Quan. The lead single peaked at number 19 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and has increased YG’s fan following substantially, exposing him to newer and greater audiences all across the country. In 2014, YG revealed the interesting artwork of the debut album, which showed YG posing for a mug shot. The album was released on March 18th, 2014.

YG’s next major piece of musical work was his 2016 album, Still Brazy. In June of 2015, while speaking to Billboard for an interview, the artist revealed that he would release his third studio album, titled Still Brazy. The album would come out in 2016. July of 2015 saw the release of a teaser for the first single from this album, “Twist My Fingaz”. The single “Cash Money” from this album, featuring Krayzie Bone was released soon, and by the end of 2015, another single from the album “I Want a Benz” also came out. This song featured the famous 50 Cent and Nipsey Hussle.

Other YG Projects

In addition to releasing 2 studio albums, seven mixtapes and seventeen singles, the American rapper has also tried his hand at films. He had a supporting role in We the Party, released in 2012. He also appeared in a cameo role as a student/smoker in the movie Mac & Devin Go To High School. The rapper has also appeared as himself in two movies, including White T, and the 2014 production Blame It On the Streets. For Blame It On The Streets, the artist had the main role and was also the executive producer and writer.

Awards and Achievements for YG

Since the early years of his career, YG has been a fan favorite. In 2014, he was nominated for the Best Collaboration Award for “My Hitta” at the BET Awards. At the BET Hip Hop Awards, the artist won the Best Collabo, Duo, or Group award for “My Hitta”, and Track of the Year for the same single. He was also nominated for Rookie of the Year, Best Club Banger, People’s Champ Award, etc.
