Willie Nelson is a country song writer, singer, poet, author, activist and an actor from America. He was born on the 30th of April in 1933. Nelson reached the height of his popularity and fame while the outlaw country movement in the 1970s was going on. He is a true legendary icon, particularly in the popular culture of America. Even though he is in 70s, he is still extensively touring and has performed in fundraisers as well as some really great concerts alongside other famous musicians. The musicians that he has performed with include famous names such as Neil Young, Bob Dylan and Dave Matthews. Nelson also is continuing to record and produce profusely in creative and new genres of music which have a blend of folk, popular music, blues, reggae and jazz. Early at the start of his career as a musician, Ray Price aided in helping Willie Nelson record one of the most covered country songs of all time by the name of “Night Life”. He the collaborated with Ray Price and joined Price’s touring band as a bass player. While he played in the Cherokee Cowboys band and with Ray Price, most of Nelson’s songs turned out as major hits for a few pop and country music’s largest stars of that time. Some of these famous songs include “Funny How Time Slips Away” (Billy Walker), “Pretty Paper” (Roy Orbison), “Hello Walls” (Faron Young) and one of the most famous songs, “Crazy” (Patsy line). The song “Crazy” resulted in becoming one of the biggest hits on the jukebox of all time. In 1980, Nelson recorded an album with Ray Price which was known as “San Antonio Rose”. In 1961, he signed a contract with the Liberty Records and released numerous singles which also included “Willingly” which was later sung with his second wife Shirley Collie and also the hit single “Touch Me”. In the 1980s, Willie Nelson gave a series of massive hit singles such as: a cover of the Allman Brothers song, a song that Nelson had recorded for the soundtrack of The Electric Horseman, “Midnight Rider” (released in 1980), “On the Road gain” (released in 1882) a soundtrack for the movie Honeysuckle Rose, and a famous duet with Julio Iglesias by the name of “To All the Girls I’ve Loved Before”. Nelson also recorded and produced famous albums such as WWII (released in 1982 alongside Waylon Jennings), Pancho & Lefty (released alongside Merle Haggard in 1982), and Take it to the Limit (released in 1983 alongside Waylon Jennings). In the 1980s, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash created a band together by the name of The Highwaymen. Astounding, the band found a lot of success. They received platinum record sales and successfully managed to do some extensive touring all over the world. At the same time, Nelson got himself involved in charity work. He sang songs for charity; out of which one of the most memorable ones is “We are the World”, a hit single released in 1984. In 1985, Nelson also set up Farm Aid events and concerts. All through the 1990s and 2000s, Willie Nelson has been touring endlessly. He has released some great albums during this time which have received diverse reviews, only with the exclusion of the album Teatro, an album that had been produced by Daniel Lanois in 1998, who is better known for his work with the Irish band U2. Later in 1998, Nelson became a member of the rock band called Phish for their onstage performances for a few songs of the bands’. This collaboration with the Phish band was a part of the yearly Farm Aid festival that Nelson was supporting. That very year he also collaborated with his fellow Highwaymen band member Johnny Cash and performed a duet concert with him which was recorded for the VH1 Storytellers series.
