Breakthrough success

When Jay Farrar left the alternative country group, Uncle Tupelo, the remaining members of the band formed, Wilco in 1994. A year later, the band recorded thirteen songs for their first studio effort, ‘A.M.’ The album collected positive reviews from the critics but did not chart. The group completed the decade by struggling to break into mainstream and churned out two more albums, ‘Being Teeth’ and ‘Summerteeth’ both of which failed to bring them any recognition.

Wilco later received their breakthrough success in 2002 when they came out with their record, ‘Yankee Hotel Foxtort.’ It was included in the book, ‘1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.’

Setting the world on fire
