Many musicians believe that the most invigorating feeling they get is when they get to perform in front of thousands of people on stage. They feel alive as the crowd hangs on to their every word and sways with the music. This is why there are some bands that have made it a life mission to focus more on their live shows. Widespread Panic is one of those bands that has been performing for over thirty years and seems to get better with each passing year.
A sea of people
It was John Bell (guitar, vocals) and Michael Houser (guitar, vocals) who first got together to form Widespread Panic, back in 1986. Over the next few years they would add Todd Nance (drums), Dave Schools (bass) and Domingo S. Ortiz (percussion) to the band as well. After Houser died and Nance left the group, they were replaced with John Hermann (keyboards), Jimmy Herring (guitar) and Duane Trucks (drums).
A cornucopia of sound
The group released their debut album, called “Space Wrangler” in 1986, followed by a self titled follow up record three years later. Both albums were disappointments on the music charts, but were well received by live audiences, who flocked to their shows and helped make the band famous.
Since then they have released a total of twelve albums, with their latest effort having coming out just last year. If you want to check out some of their songs for yourself, then get your Widespread Panic Broomfield CO tickets and enjoy watching their show, live at the 1stBank Center.
