The rise of Whiskey Myers
Whiskey Myers is a southern rock band, based in Texas. They are known for blending rock with country music to come up with a unique sound. The band is inspired by some of the biggest names in the music industry including, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Hank Williams Jr, Waylon Jennings, Led Zeppelin and Neil Young among others.
The group was formed when Cody Conan received an acoustic guitar from his grandfather. He later met his guitarist friend, Joan Jeffers and was taught the rudiments of the instrument by his father when he was just sixteen. Conan was later introduced to the future lead guitarist of Whiskey Myers, Cody Tate and the songwriting core of the group was formed. He then completed the lineup of the band by adding drummer, Jeff Hogg and bassist, Gary Brown to the roster.
Whiskey Myers moved to Tyler, Texas and began playing whatever gigs the group could find. That eventually resulted in them garnering a large and enthusiastic fan following. Their bond as friends continued to grow with each show they performed and they were then signed by Smith Entertainment in 2008. They soon come out with their debut record, ‘Road of Life’ which received four and a half stars from AllMusic and features songs like, Lonely East TX Hearts, Nobody Knows Her Name and Thief of Hearts.

It charted at the fourth spot on the Top Heatseekers Albums and got mixed reviews from the critics as AllMusic gave it two and a half stars.
Three years after the group put out ‘Firewater,’ they met Dave Cobb who produced their studio album, ‘Early Morning Shakes’ that they released in 2014. It reached the tenth and the twelfth position on the Top country Albums and Independent Albums chart. The record was a result of years of experimentation, dedication and refinement. It featured twelve tracks that covered an impressive range of emotions and perspectives.
