Ween history dates back to the year 1984 when 8^th grader class fellows Mickey Melchiondo and Aaron Freeman decided to form a band and both adopted pseudonyms Deen Ween and Gene Ween respectively. The music of both these talented musicians was heavily influenced from many different legends like Queen, Frank Zappa, Prince, The Beatles and Syd Barrett, together they self-released an amazing 6 albums and some of their names are The Crucial Squeegie Lip, Mrs. Slack, Bold as Boognish, Prime 5. Ween was noticed for the first time in 1987 when they did the cover of Purple Haze at a talent show and playing at some famous music bars also gave them some prominence.

In 1989, for the first time the duo was signed by a major recording label Twin/Tone Records, they released their first album GodWeenSatan: The Oneness in 1990. They didn’t stop their as they went on to release a fairly successful 2^nd album in 1991 by the name of The Pod with some characteristic drums and guitar sounds making it Ween signature style of music, the album was named Pod after the name of the apartment in which Ween recorded it. They year 1992 saw Ween releasing yet another fine album Pure Guava under the famous record label Elektra and one of the album singles Push th’Little Daisies was a hit and it was regularly played on MTV for quite sometime. Another album Chocolate and Cheese followed in 1994 which was influenced from the light rock and pop of the 70’s with some popular singles like Voodoo lady and Freedom of 76, Ween at this point decided to increase their studio and live member line up adding Dave Dreiwitz on bass, Claude Coleman on drums and Glenn McClelland on keyboards.

Ween released another theme album in 1997 by the name of The Mollusk which is considered by the band members as one of their best works. Elektra released a live compilation of the band by the name of Paintin’the Town Brown: Ween live 1990-1998, the band finally parted its ways with Elektra after releasing a pop theme album White Pepper. The band then signed with Sanctuary Records in 2003 and released Quebec, the band also had their own label by the name of Chocodog Records and under it they released a very in demand live album through their website Live in Toronto in which the band performed live with Bobby Ogdin and The Shit Creek Boys. They also released an album by the name Shinola which contained some rare music tracks of the band under Chocodog but their last album till date is La Cucaracha released by the very well known Rounder Records.

Ween has been very active on other projects as well as they made a noise rock band with Japanese group Boredoms, their songs has been used as soundtracks on different channel  series like U Turn, Beautiful Girls and The X-Files and Ween has also appeared on TV shows like Late Show with David Letterman. After releasing their album White Pepper the band started their own internet radio channel by the name of WeenRadio and this was voted by famous music site Rolling Stone as the 3^rd best music site available, the band plans to release their next album very soon.
