Vince Gill got recognized for his musical talents even before he entered the professional music world. During his teens, Gill played with several local bluegrass bands and even opened for some big bands like Pure Prairie, whom he later joined as lead singer. Since early in his career, Vince Gill had been associated with various bands and even moved to Kentucky to play with Bluegrass Alliance. Looking for challenging musical collaborations, Gill toured with another band as well and the friends he made during these partnerships helped him a lot in his career. To take his career to newer heights, Vince Gill moved to Los Angeles in 1976. After playing briefly with the band Sundance, in 1979 Gill joined Pure Prairie as their lead vocalist. He adopted country rock music to add to his already mastered genre of acoustic bluegrass.
The band and Vince Gill got their first hit with their debut album in 1980. The song, "Let Me Love You Tonight" peaked at number ten on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and remained in the list of hit songs for a long time. The song showcased Vince Gillís talent and was the start of a successful career for him. With a quest to grow further as a musician, Gill again switched bands and worked with Tony Brown who helped him with his solo career. After signing with the record label RCA, Vince Gill moved along with his family to Nashville. His debut solo album, "Turn Me Loose" was a huge hit and earned Gill the academy award for Country Music's Top New Male Vocalist.
It made Gill the new sensation in the country music genre. His second album, "The Things That Matter" did equally well and three of its songs reached Billboard Country charts. The beautiful lyrics and the variation in melodies made the album one of its kinds.
In 2006 Vince Gill released yet another award winning album, "These Days". The variation in music styles along with the catchy lyrics made it the Best Country Album at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards.
