Vic Dibitetto – Truly Genuine

Vic Dibitetto stepped into the comedy world at a relatively later age, something that’s quite hard to believe judging from the quality of his work. But he had always been hilarious. In high school he was the class clown and on the urging of his friends he participated in an amateur night at the Pips Comedy Club. And he was booed off the stage.

But that short lived moment of fame, or not, was enough to hook him. In 1991, along with his son Michael, Dibitetto appeared in the America’s Funniest People and their home video about a ventriloquist earned them the Grand Prize of $10,000. He continued to cash in on the opportunities that came his way and his 2013 “Bread and Milk” video placed him on the map.

The 30 seconds video was shared on YouTube and had the comic poking fun at people who go frantic whenever there is a forecast of heavy snow. They rush to buy bread and milk as if it’s the sole reason for their survival. Getting more than 16 million views, the moment of stupidity as Vic likes to call it, earned him recognition from famous comedians.

Producer, writer and comedian Kevin James approached him for a role in his movie “Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2” and from there onwards his career finally took off.

Why Vic Dibitetto is the Guy to See

He’s not just hilarious, but he also brings it together in a happy and positive way. In his own words, “I’m not the cleverest comic in the world, but if you want belly laughs and your face to hurt, I’m the guy to see”.

As Vic Dibitetto tickets continue to sell for his live shows, the comedian is amazed himself at his rise in popularity. A genuine talent, Vic knows how to entertain his fans and gives them unique material to laugh at. He’s wonderfully fresh and funny and doesn’t hold back on self-deprecating humor. His routines often involve stories about his childhood and the annoyances of living in Brooklyn.

One thing Vic doesn’t shy away from is praising his wife and displaying a heartfelt affection for his family. Calling his wife Lucy his “rock”, the comedian admitted it’s his family support and their faith in his talent that brought him fame so much later in his life.

Comedy Style

His perfectly timed humor is for all adult age. And what makes it even more wonderful is that the fans can easily relate to it. Vic’s live shows are a comedy marathon as he just doesn’t stop, presenting one hilarious joke after the other, seamlessly and effortlessly. Sure there is crass language in it but only enough to make it appropriate and fun for the audience.

When offstage, Vic is the exact opposite of his onstage persona. He’s calm, quiet, sensitive and even boring – that’s what he says! According to the comedian, “If I was like that guy you see on stage 24 hours a day, I’d have a heart attack. ... I like to garden. There you go. I said it.”

Don’t miss a live performance by The Donkey of Comedy, as Vic Dibitetto likes to call himself.
