Metalcore pioneers, Underøath are officially back! Announcing breakup in 2013, the band started teasing rebirth in early 2015 and in August officially revealed their reunion. While many thought they would stop at just one comeback show, a performance at the 2016 Self Help Festival, the six-piece disclosed a whole new set of tour dates. Titled “Rebirth Tour”, Underøath will be playing music from two of their most successful albums, “They’re Only Chasing Safety” and “Define the Great Line”. The fans want to join the Christian hardcore ensemble in their ten-year music celebration and have already started looking for Underøath tickets.
The Rebirth of Underoath
Wrapping up their farewell tour in 2013, Underøath listened to the requests of their fans and announced a reunion in 2015. Members Spencer Chamberlain, Aaron Gillespie, Grant Brandell, James Smith, Tim McTague and Christopher Dudley will kick-off their return in style, hitting the road on a 2-month adventure. The 2016 Rebirth Tour will start from Saint Petersburg on March 16 and is expected to run through April 23. The band is really excited about this opportunity and can’t wait to bring their two classic albums “They’re Only Chasing Safety” and “Define the Great Line” on the live stage. In an interview the guitarist McTague stated, “We never thought we’d ever even want to play together again, much less be as excited to do so. It was a really cool feeling, and when discussing what this tour could be, it just felt right to play the two albums that our fans have held dearly for so many years. I think it’s going to be really special.”
Birth of an Energized Rock Group
Formed in 1997, Florida based Underøath evolved from traditional, run-of-the-mill Christian hardcore band into a dynamic, fluid and energized rock ensemble. Their engaging beats and high-tempo, punk rock rhythms took the fans by storm and within a year of formation, they earned deal with a record label. Their debut album “Act of Depression” sold over 3,000 copies and announced their arrival.
After facing a few obstacles and bravely tackling them, Underøath released “They're Only Chasing Safety” in 2004 and it became a huge hit. Certified Gold, the album was nominated at the GMA Awards for the “Rock Album of the Year” and earned huge critical acclaim. The band took the album on the road and sold huge amount of Underøath tickets.
In 2006, “Define the Great Line” hit the shelves and in the first week alone recorded 100,000 sales. An emotional album, it was certified Gold and embraced by both the fans and critics alike. The creative and dark album featured mature lyrics that focused on uncertainty in faith, addiction and inspiration for what may be beyond the physical. Plenty of head banging breakdowns are present in this technical masterpiece and the vocals are spot on as well. Singles like “In Regards to Myself” and “There Could Be Nothing After This” bring a lot of variety into this effort and listeners are treated to dark and broody anthems as well as inspirational and soaring tracks.
