Latest Album: Trench

The band had released their last album in 2015 and went on a hiatus from 2017 with full silence on all platforms. The first activity was seen in April 2018 when there was a new post on their web store with a link to a website which sent a wave in the fans. A few days later, they announced their new album "Trench" which released on October 5 and a supporting trek "The Bandito Tour". The album had debuted on number one on the Billboard Top Rock Albums and Alternative Albums charts. There were a total of fourteen tracks and all charted on the top twenty five Hot Rock Songs chart with five tracks in the top ten.

Concept and Themes

The album was produced in Tyler Joseph’s private home studio and Josh Dun had recorded his drum parts at the United Recording Studio. Tyler and Paul Meany (frontman of Mutemath) had co-written and co-produced while Adam Hawkins had mixed the whole album. “Trench” explores the themes of mental health, faith, insecurity and suicide. The city of Dema (Tower of Silence) is extensively talked and discussed in the album and promotional material. These towers are part of the Zoroastrianism religion which were used to dispose of the dead bodies by letting vultures eat them.
