Trevor Hall – Music a Passion, Life’s Art
At an early age of 11, Trevor Hall realized that to him, music was a lot more than just a passion and was in fact his life’s art. He started playing harmonica and the beauty of its sound inspired him to write his own songs. While still in high school, Hall was composing music and even performing live for local audiences.
He recorded his first album at 16 and moved to California to enroll in the Idyllwild Arts Academy. There he studied classical guitar and was introduced to yoga and meditation. The spiritual undertone that can be heard in Hall’s songs today is the result of this practice of reflection and self-examination. Trevor’s musical style echoes that of icons like Ben Harper, Bob Marley and Jack Johnson. Inspired by the works of Sufi poets Kabir, Hafiz and Rumi, Hall’s lyrics are infused with a deep passion for eastern mysticism.
During his college years, Trevor Hall had an Indian friend who introduced him to the work of Sri Neem Karoli Baba, a Hindu spiritual guru. Upon reading the book “Miracle of Love” that contained stories about the saint, Hall was tempted to visit India and explore the spiritual world. In Hall’s own words, earlier his music was about a crush he had on a girl, and after touching upon his spiritual side he was able to pen songs that focused on his deep admiration for the natural world.
