The Band Comes To Life
Trans Siberian Orchestra was formed in 1993, by lyricist, composer, and producer, Paul O’Neil, who brought together Robert Kinkel (co-producer and keyboardist), and Al Pitrelli and Jon Oliva (band members of Savatage) to form the creative team. Inspired by bands and musicians like Pink Floyd, The Who, Queen, Lake & Palmer, Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith, O’Neil built the group on a foundation created by the fusion of rock and classical music.
Bringing Rock And Roll to Christmas
The band is known for blending progressive, symphonic, orchestral and classical elements into heavy metal and hard rock. They are popular for their holiday themed rock operas (which include The Lost Christmas Eve, The Christmas Attic, and Christmas Eve and Other Stories). While their winter tours and Christmas albums have put them on the map, the orchestra has also worked on some non-holiday productions, which include Letters from Labyrinth (2015), Night Castle (2009), and Beethoven’s Last Night (2000). These rock operas mostly revolve around historical themes. The orchestra is known for its elaborate concerts, which feature moving trusses, dozens of pyrotechnics, lasers and lighting displays.
