The original member lineup of the band consisted of Paul D’Amour instead of Danny Carey on drums, with the guitarist and vocalist being the same. It was after two years of performing and composing that the rock ensemble was able to get record labels to notice them. With their debut EP titled “Opiate,” released in 1992, the band presented a total of six tracks that provided a hardcore, slam and bang, heavy metal sound. In the following year Tool came forth with their debut album, “Undertow” and started touring with Rage Against the Machine, Fishbone and Rollins Band.

Over a time period of thirteen years, Tool has released four studio albums, with its most latest release coming out in 2006. Their songs, “Aenema”, “Stinkfist”, “Schism”, “Vicarious and “the Pot” received Grammy nominations in the categories of “Best Metal Performance” and “Best Hard Rock Performance”. Albums, “Ænema ” and “10,000 Days” were also nominated for “Best Recording Package” in the Grammys. With a total of three Grammy awards, the band is said to be influenced by Sex Pistols, Deftones, System of a Down, Limp Bizkit and Earshot.
