The group managed to audition for the singer, Perri “Pebbles” Reid who had her own production company. Perri was instantly impressed and renamed the group TLC-Skee. She arranged an audition for them with the local record label, LaFace Records who signed the group except for Jones. This is where Rozonda Thomas came in and joined the remaining members of the band.

Ooooooohhh…On the TLC Tip went four times platinum and captured the number fourteen spot on the US Billboard 200 chart. It also received widespread acclaim from the critics and TLC were on their way to stardom.

It sold more than fifteen million copies worldwide and won multiple Grammys as well. It was called a ‘New Classic’ By Entertainment Weekly. The Rolling Stones ranked ‘CrazySexyCool’ at 377 on their list of ‘The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time’ and stated that TLC, “emerged with the most effervescent and soulful girl-group R&B anyone had seen since the Supremes.”
The trio then came out with their third album titled, ‘FunMail’ which turned into a rage. It went six times platinum and debuted at the number one spot on the US Billboard 200 chart while selling out more than three million copies in the first week of its release. It also earned them eight Grammy nominations out of which they got their hands on three.
