A fabulous Canadian quartet ranked among the fastest rising names in music is about to make its way to the United States for a series of wonderful shows. The Tenors have been a part of the music landscape for a decade and have certainly made their mark during this time. The Tenors is the manifestation of an idea which was conceived by Jill Ann Siemens. Siemens first thought about forming a new group way back in the year 2003. A succession of trials and tests were conducted that went for a whopping four years. A lot of people came to for the trials but most of them weren’t up to the mark.
The management wanted the group to have nothing but the best talent around. They didn’t stop until they finally found the performers they were on the look-out for. Initially only three people made the cut to become The Tenors, the group also known as “The Canadian Tenors.” The three lucky people were Kevin Lavigne, Paul Ouellette and Philip Grant.
The band made their debut as a collection in the year 2004 in Victoria. The next two years were turbulent to say the least as a host of members were cut from the ensemble. Siemens had by that time had enough of that so it was decided that an extensive search of Canada is to be done to finally find the talent that was required.
By the time The Tenors released their first album titled “The Canadian Tenors” in 2005 the line-up consisted of Leon Leontaridis, Joey Niceforo and Craig Ashton. It was two years later than Peter McCutcheon came onboard. The four of them then went on to perform at the Royal Ontario Museum’s inauguration event. McCutcheon however didn’t stay too long and was replaced by Jamie McKnight.
McKnight stuck around for a short while before he left and his place was then taken up by Clifton Murray. The Tenors then released “The Perfect Gift” on 3rd November, 2009. That was the band’s first album focused on the holiday season and it turned out to be an enormous hit. The Perfect Gift captivated the hearts of millions around the country and was certified platinum by Canada’s authority, Music Canada. The band then followed that up with a road trip with David Foster. The Canadian Tenors acted as the opening act on Foster’s concerts and that took their popularity even further.
Later that year The Tenors were awarded the honor of singing the Canadian national anthem at the Grey Cup. The group’s reputation then went across the border to the US and they were invited for an interview on the legendary “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” They teamed up with the iconic Celine Dion to perform “Hallelujah.”
The Perfect Gift hit the music stores in the United States on 30th October, 2010. It went as high as the number seventh spot on Top Holiday Albums chart. The Tenors then went on to perform at the famous ”Canadian Tenors and Friends.” The event was dedicated to the holiday season and drew crowds totaling up to a whopping nine hundred and fifty seven thousand people.
On 14th December, 2011 the band made an appearance at “Season of Song,” another special program that was viewed by an incredible seven hundred and forty three people. Their next album was titled “Lead With Your Heart” and it was released on 9th October, 2012. The album turned out to be their third straight released to go platinum in their native Canada.
The Tenors have been on a hot roll. They have performed to sell-out crowds in the US as well as Canada to establish themselves as one of the most prominent names in the music industry today.
