Meet the Tenderloins
The formation of The Tenderloins dates back to 1990 when all members of the group met at the Monsignor Farrell High School. Currently, this comedy troupe is composed of James Murray, Brian Quinn, Joe Gatto and Sal Vulcano.
James Murray – Born in 1976, James Murray is an American improvisational comedian who is of Irish descent. Growing up, he studied community theatre and also performed in several musicals. He then enrolled himself at Georgetown University and starred in the movie, ‘Private Parts’ which also featured Howard Stern. Since then, he has gone on to work in many movies and has also appeared in an episode of the television series, ‘Bones.’ Murray is currently the Senior Vice President of Development at NorthSouth Productions and has produced shows for many T.V networks including, MTV, A&E and TLC.
Brian Quinn – Born to parents, James Quinn and Carol Murphy in 1976, Brian Michael Quinn has Irish and Italian ancestry. He became interested in creative arts when he was young and worked in musicals like, ‘Godspell’ and ‘Bye Bye Birdie.’ In 1996, he featured in his debut film, ‘Warshots’ and soon after, Quinn went on to work in movies like, ‘Dogma,’ ‘Big Helium Dog’ and ‘Vulgar.’ He is also known for hosting the podcast, ‘Tell 'Em Steve-Dave!’
Joe Gatto – Joseph Anthony Gatto is the birth name of Joe Gatto who was born in 1976 and is of Italian descent too. He studied at LIU Post and graduated with a degree in accounting. Apart from working in the hit series, ‘Impractical Jokers,’ he starred in an episode of science fiction T.V show, ’12 Monkeys’ and is also the co-host of the podcast, Pizza Beer Revolution.
Sal Vulcano – Born as Salvatore Edward Anthony Vulcano Jr. in 1976, Sal Vulcano is of Puerto Rican, Cuban and Italian descent. Vulcano is a big fan of sports and used to play basketball, football and hockey when he was enrolled at the Monsignor Farrell High School. He was interested in stand-up comedy from the start and used to perform shows in and around the U.S. with other comic acts like, Big Jay Oakerson and Chris DiStefano.
The rise of The Tenderloins
The Tenderloins began their journey in 1999 as a sketch and improv comedy troupe and began performing shows in Los Angeles, New York and Chicago. They also participated in the Miami Improv Festival and the San Francisco Sketch Comedy Festival which helped them grab the attention of the masses.
In 2006, they decided to upload their comedic sketches on video sharing platforms like, YouTube and Metacafe. The decision was a good one as their videos made them international stars. One year later, they took part in NBC’s competition, ‘It’s Your Show’ and won. They were awarded the grand prize of $100,000.
Impractical Jokers and radio show
Following their great success, truTv announced that they are going to cast The Tenderloins in their new series, ‘Impractical Jokers.’ The show debuted on December 15, 2011 and became a hit as Linda Stasi of the New York Post said,
"Possibly the funniest, most ridiculous show I’ve seen in years."
Impractical Jokers has completed seven seasons so far and has become a number-one show on Comedy Central in India and the United Kingdom. In addition, the group has its own radio show, ‘The Tenderloins Radio Show’ which premiered on SiriusXM Radio Channel 94 on August 17, 2017. It is an hour-long show during which they prank acquaintances and friends, answer e-mails and take calls.

The Tenderloins have now decided to treat fans to their live performances and are scheduled to hit the road in March. The quartet will be performing the first show of the trek at the King Center for the Performing Arts in Melbourne. They will then go on to make fans laugh in cities like, Las Vegas, Richmond and Charlotte before the group ends the road trip in July.
