The Monkees Tickets

The Monkees were formed in the year 1966 in the city of Los Angeles by Bert Schneider and Robert Rafelson. They were assembled for the television series by the same name on American television which was aired during the years 1966 till 1968. The Monkees music was at first supervised by the producer Don Kirshner.

At the time the band was formed, the producers of the show wanted The Monkees as a Beatles-like band. Earlier the band provided the vocals and was sometimes given some performance acts and production opportunities. But later The Monkees fought for their rights and eventually earned their right to supervise all of the musical output under the name of the band collectively. The show got cancelled in the year 1968 but the band continued to release records until the year 1970. After the bitter rivalry and later the end of the band’s relationship with Don Kirshner, the Monkees determined to prove to everyone that they were a strong and a solid group which could play their own instruments, went to the Goldstar Studios in Hollywood. The result of this was Headquarters. Almost all of the vocals as well as the instruments on this album were given by The Monkees. This album was produced by Chip Douglas. This album of the band instantly shot to the number one spot but was very quickly shadowed by a cultural event where The Beatles released their album.

The Monkees released three more albums and all three of them featured a much diversified mixture of influences of musical styles, such as folk-rock, R&B/soul, country-rock, guitar rock, psychedelic rock, Broadway and even English music hall sensibilities. In the year 1968, in the month of April, The Monkees released an album called The Birds, The Bees & The Monkees. Although this album was their first ever that did not hit the number 1 spot but it still went gold. Its songs Daydream Believer  and I’m a Believer were huge success. The former remained on the top in American charts for seven weeks. During this period, that is, from 1966 to 1968, the group reached the pinnacle of fame. The group sold 50 million records worldwide. They set up a lot of records which include being the first music band to win two Emmys. In 1986/87, Seven of the 200 albums on Billboard top album chart belonged to The Monkees. They also set up a record of four number-one albums within a span of a single year. They were also the first ones to have hits topping charts in the UK and the USA simultaneously.

Though their television show came to an end in 1968, the band’s fame did not abate.  With a feature film in the pipeline, The Monkees kept up their tours. They toured extensively around the world. They released their last album in 1996 called Justus. Their movie, Daydream Believers: The Monkees' Story, was released in 2000. The band became a part of the Hit Parade Hall of Fame in 2008. This year would see their reunion as the members celebrate and perform at their 45th Anniversary Tour.

The Monkees have had eventful 45 years. They have been surrounded by controversies. Their music was questioned, their novelty rejected. But they persevered and won the hearts of millions. Despite disputes among members and the existence of a love-hate relationship between them, they came together again and again to entertain their audiences. The legacy that they have left behind remains unmatched. Till this day, their music is used to inspire millions. Therefore, their upcoming concerts will be an-out-of-this-world experience for those who have grown up listening to their music but have yet to see The Monkees perform live. The Monkees tickets promise great entertainment and a chance to witness the legends come alive!
