How One Song Spring-boarded The Band To Fame
Hobo Johnson & The Lovemakers shot to fame after ‘Peach Scone’ went viral. It has amassed more than 26 million streams to date, making the song a huge hit. The song also helped them increase their followers from a couple of thousand to over one million. When asked about his reaction to the song’s success, the front-man of the band, Frank Lopes Jr. (also known as Hobo Johnson) said “I was completely shocked,” he further added “I don’t think my human brain can grasp it. I can tell myself I understand what’s going on, but I don’t think I can. It’s an amazing thing to happen. I’m just so lucky…”
How The Band Struggled To Make Their Mark
Before ‘Peach Scone’ turned out to be a huge hit, Hobo Johnson & The Lovemakers would only play in San Francisco, Bay Area, or Sacramento. The band hardly toured then, because they didn’t know how to tour. While reflecting upon how life was before they shot to fame, the band members shared that hardly thirty people would show up to their concerts in Bay Area. And today, the band is selling out major stadiums all across the U.S.
Hobo Johnson’s incredible musicianship has caught the attention of major media players such as MTV who praised his music in a tweet. Moreover, Hobo Johnson & The Lovemakers have also enjoyed their share of commercial success. Five different tracks from The Rise of Hobo Johnson have made it to Spotify's Global Viral 50 list. These songs have also charted on Spotify’s Canada Viral 50, UK Viral 50, Australia Viral 50, US Viral 50, Ireland Viral 50, NZ Viral 50, and Spain Viral 50.
