The title for this album came about when the band’s lead vocalist, Brandon Flowers, found himself to be the tallest object on a desert plain with a thunderstorm approaching. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he also had a cell phone in his pocket. Instead of panicking or even lying on the ground, Flowers just chuckled to himself saying ‘Wonderful, Wonderful’. Months later, this moment and phrase stuck with him in the studio with his band and they decided to name the album that.

The songs within this album deliver a message of acceptance— the acceptance of all your old flaws and present imperfections, and owning up to them. It is a deeply personal album for Flowers, who has penned most of the lyrics based upon his own coming-of-age. The single “Some Kind of Love” Flowers wrote for his wife who suffers from PTSD. It is a sensitive account of unconditional love despite hardships present within it.
