The Hooters exploded onto the music scene with a powerful sound that took the industry by storm. Hailing from Philadelphia, the Hooters broke out onto the rock music scene in 1980. The band was quick to climb the ranks and soon became a well-known act on the live music circuit. The Hooters career began in earnest after they signed with Columbia Records. Their major label debut, Nervous Night, came in 1985 and quickly achieved gold and platinum certifications. This was a big year for the band as Rolling Stone magazine proclaimed them the “Best New Band of the Year” and the group was chosen to perform at the Live Aid in Philadelphia.
Nervous Night was followed by relentless touring and another high-profile gig at the Amnesty International Concert where the band shared stage with the likes of Bryan Adams, U2 and The Police.
The iconic rock act continued their streak of success with more commercially and critically successful albums and extensive touring. Their famous 1996 album, Hooterization- A Retrospective, featured the band's greatest hits and became a commercial success. The album was their last for a few years as the group decided to take a break, until they resurfaced again with the 2007 album, Time Stand Still.
