Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons emerged as a rock & pop band from Newark New Jersey back in 1960. The group was at the height of its international success back in the mid 60s and enjoyed enormous amount of fan following in different parts of the world. Before Beatles stepped into the limelight, The Four Seasons was considered to be the most successful and most popular rock band. Back in 1960, the group was initially founded by the name of the Four Lovers, but later the name of the band was changed to the Four Seasons. Originally the group started off as a quartet and the original lineup of the band comprised of Frankie Valli as lead vocalist, Baritone vocalist and lead guitarist Tommy DeVito, tenor vocalist and keyboard player Bob Gaudio and Nick Massi as the bassist. Before emerging as an act on its own, the Four Seasons initially auditioned for a crack at a record deal but failed to do so. Hence Valli along with Gaudio formed the Four Seasons Partnership, which still remains till today. Since the group’s formation in 1960, many musicians and music producers have worked with the Four Seasons, but Valli and Gaudio have remained its constant members. Although Gaudio doesn’t go on concert tours anymore, he’s still entitled to fifty percent of the organization’s assets. The Four Seasons have enjoyed enormous amounts of success in their time and still continue to do so. With more than 175 Million record sales to their name, the Four Seasons is considered to be one of the best selling musical groups of all times. In 1990, the original lineup of the group was also honored by being inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And almost a decade later in 1999, they were also inducted in the Vocal Group Hall of Fame. Even years after its inception, the group still enjoys significant amount of fan following, which shows itself on each of the Four Seasons’ concert. The Four Seasons is on the move yet again this year, so for all those who intend to catch them live should grab the Four Seasons tickets today. The group made its very first studio effort back in 1961 when the Four Seasons released its first single titled Bermuda / Spanish Lace. The single was released on Gone Records but was unable to make its way to any music chart. At that time, the group started working with the producer Bob Crewe, at his Topix record label as backing vocalists for various acts. Occasionally, the group would also take charge as the leading vocalists when required. Around that time Gaudio started penning a song that was later titled to be Sherry, as per the combined decision of both Gaudio and Crewe. After the recording for the song was done, the time came to sign a record deal to release the track. After quite some struggle, the group was finally able to strike a deal with Crewe’s production company. The Four Seasons finally came up with their debut album in 1962, and Sherry was released as the first single from that album. The single did incredibly well and so did the album. Sherry garnered much attention on the mainstream music scene and went on to become the group’s first number one single. From there onwards, The Four Seasons got the start and attention that they needed to launch themselves in the mainstream music industry. The group’s debut album also contained two more number hit singles titled Candy Girl and Big Girls Don’t Cry. The group’s last album came out in 1992 titled Hope + Glory and since then they haven’t released any new material, but Frankie Valli has been touring as the sole member from the original lineup with the touring band. So if you’re planning on catching one of the band’s live performances, grab the Four Seasons tickets right here.
