The Disco Biscuits was created at the University of Pennsylvania in 1995 and has since been actively involved in the local and national music scenes. The members of the band have participated in a variety of different musical ventures and have contributed greatly to the development of electronic music. Marc Brownstein and Jon Gutwillig have both written rock operas. Guttwillig wrote his first piece called the Hot Air Balloon, some time before 31st December, 1998. It debuted at the Silk City in Philadelphia on this date. On the other hand, March wrote the famous Chemical Warfare Brigade in the early 2000 while he was on a hiatus from the band. The opera was released at the Trocadero Theater in Philadelphia on the 19th of August, 2000.

Diamond Riggs Studios

In addition to making wonderful music themselves, the band members have also made significant contributions to music in other ways. This includes the Diamond Riggs Studios created by The Disco Biscuits. They purchased the former Old City Philadelphia studio that was previously in the use of DJ Jazzy Jeff. This space became the ideal place for musicians to meet for creating unique collaborations and experiment with various kinds of sounds.

Camp Bisco

This was another one of the musical projects undertaken by members of The Disco Biscuits. The first ever Camp Bisco took place in 1999, where the band attempted to bring together the creative aspects of electronic DJs and mixing them up with improvisational rock. In the seventeen years since its formation, the Camp Bisco has grown tremendously. The lineup for the musical festival now includes big names such as Gramatik, STS9, Pretty Lights, Bassnectar and Lotus.

The Disco Biscuits are also a part of several charitable efforts, which include food drives and raising funds for relief efforts following the Hurricane Irene. The national, non-profit organization, HeadCount was also founded by one of the members of the band, and aimed to partner with musicians to promote participation in the democratic efforts in the US by registering voters at concerts.
