While growing up in the town of Bath in New York, frontman Dan Finnerty started nurturing an itch for performing that he started scratching right after graduating from Emerson College. He became involved in the project Stomp, the now widely popular off-Broadway show that saw him banging out percussion sounds from ordinary household odds and ends. Though never intending to enter into a career in music, Dan started performing his versions of the "diva" classic numbers in local LA clubs after he tied the knot with Kathy Najimy. Accompanied by a four-piece band, Dan soon started gaining widespread acclaim for his amusing outpourings that actually played on the appeal of the "wedding singer" style of singing  and struck gold. The Dan Band's shows were soon in high demand and started attracting various celebrities to their performances whose presence soon made them the talk of Tinsel Town.
 
The Dan Band's big break came in 2003 when they were featured in the cult comedy Old School singing their now infamously iconic version of "Total Eclipse of the Heart" that truly expressed what would one feel when their heart is trampled upon. Dan's foul-mouthed blowout paved the way for other soundtrack contributions, such as for 2004's Starsky and Hutch that entailed a whacky version of "Feel Like Makin' Love" originally sung by Roberta Flack being performed by Dan in Bat Mitzvah setting in the actual film. The Dan Band also scored two cover songs on the soundtrack of 2009's Hangover, with Dan the main man delivering his slur-filled covers of 50Cent's "Candy Shop" and Michael Gore's 1980 hit "Fame" during a wedding scene.
 
The Dan Band truly came into limelight via their 2005 TV special titled "The Dan Band: I Am Woman." The show was aired on the channel Bravo and entailed directional services performed by hotshot video director McG, with even the don director Steven Spielberg stepping in the role of an executive producer. Collaborating with such notable industry insiders cemented their initiation and The Dan Band started booking gigs like nobody's business, each one going down in front of a sold out crowd. Their appearances on television shows such as Jimmy Kimmel Live, Last Call with Carson Daly, The Late Show, Ellen, The Tonight Show and Spike TV's Guys Choice Awards further upped their entertainment value.

Dan even nailed down a regular spot on Jay Leno's The Tonight Show as a correspondent and the video for the song "Please Don't Bomb Nobody This Holiday" had appearances by the who's who of music, TV and film such as Meg Ryan, Nicole Scherzinger, Sheryl Crow, Neil Patrick Harris, Christina Applegate and Macy Gray.
