The Black Watch the play is based on several interviews that were taken from the former soldiers of the army. It basically tells the story of the soldiers that served Black Watch regiment of British Army under the Operation TELIC that took place in Iraq in year 2004 before amalgamation in Royal Regiment of Scotland. The play was staged for the very first time in August of 2006 on a temporary setup in Edinburgh Festival named Traverse Stage which was formerly the drill hall of University of Edinburgh Officer Training Corps. It was received by the audience and the critics in a very positive way.
