The Bangles Tickets
The Bangles with well-grounded melodies accompanied by solid guitar riffs, is all female pop-rock band. The power ladies took on rock’s bad boys during the eighties and with a hiatus of a decade, have been actively performing since the beginning of the new millennium.
The Bangles arose with the tumultuous tides of the eighties decade and adapted to the changing musical landscape influenced by the pervasive elements of globalization. Amidst the garish undertones of eighties culture, Susanna Hoffs teamed up with the sisters Debbie and Vicki Peterson to define their own niche in the Paisley Underground scene of Los Angeles. After jangling around with names such as the Colors and The Supersonic Bangs and avoiding a potential lawsuit with calling themselves "The Bangs" from an existing band already named so, the trio finally took a shine to their now legendary moniker. Their debut single "Getting Out Of Hand" came out in 1981 that paved the way for The Bangles getting the first record deal from Faulty Products. Releasing a self-titled EP two years later, the threesome stepped up to the big leagues by releasing their first studio album All Over the Place in 1984 under Columbia Records.
With their first album making some jingles in the pop infused eighties music scene, the second really did shine a whole new light on The Bangles. Featuring the iconic chart topping number "Walk Like an Egyptian", Different Light shot up the charts, peaking at the number two spot in several countries such as the US, UK and Australia and has since been certified 3 times platinum. Their following album Everything that was released in 1988 also made it into the top-ten slot in many countries and has struck platinum in North America as well as overseas in the UK. It contained their biggest hit "Eternal Flame," that apart from hitting a jackpot of number one spots across major countries, has portentously kept The Bangles’ fame alive by spawning a number of covers. The most prominent was the Atomic Kitten version that itself was a massive hit in the UK where it ruled the roost for two weeks as well as topping charts and striking gold in other European countries.
Juiced up with the raw musical prowess of The Runaways courtesy bandmate Micki Steele and festooned by the provocative vocal overtures of Susanna Hoffs, The Bangles have dealt super-charged performances whenever they have taken to the stage. Even whilst being apart, the band’s members have transformed their musical tingling into successful stints, such as guitarist Vicki Peterson who toured with The Go-Go’s, another all girl power band, during the mid-nineties. Their 2000 reunion was triggered by The Bangles coming together to record a song for the second installment of the Austin Powers trilogy at the behest of director/Hoff’s husband Jay Roach.
The fourth and latest studio album Doll Revolution was their final one as a quartet and with the departure of bassist Micki Steele in 2005, The Bangles went on to tour North America and Europe with Abby Travis in their new lineup. Having put their performing baubles aside for a while, the band has been putting in some quality time in the studio and is all set to shake things up following the release of their fifth album, Sweetheart of the Sun in late 2011. So get your The Bangles tickets now to have these ladies dish out a slice of sunlight to satiate your musical pangs.
