Bogguss Feels ‘Lucky’
Raised to stardom during the late 1980s, Suzy Bogguss has decided to relive the days of her early music inspirations in Illinois. In 2014, the singer sat down to compose songs for her new album “Lucky” with a cover of the classic country singer Merle Haggard. What was supposed to be a single cover song turned out to be a complete 12-track collection of famous Haggard singles including “Today I Started Loving You Again” and “Silver Wings”. With a heartrending collection of Haggard ballads, the album reveals Bogguss’s love and admiration for the legendary singer. “Somewhere Between’, one of her earliest music feats was also a cover of Merle Haggard’s song. Bogguss is hugely impressed by Haggard’s low-key delivery and a striking lyrical ability that she thinks have made him so successful. The singer also sent a copy of her album “Lucky” to Merle Haggard who appreciated her effort in earnest. “He called me up afterwards and said he just loved it”, Bogguss relates excitedly. Some of her other inspirations include Dale Evans, Linda Ronstadt and Roy Rogers.
A Career to Cherish
With a career spanning decades, Suzy Bogguss has given a series of smash hit singles with six songs making it to the Top Ten of the US Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. The artist produced one platinum and two gold certified albums with “Aces” being the most successful of her works. The album released in 1991 proved to be a magnum opus for the singer, giving four Top Fifteen singles and hitting the Top Twenty at the Billboard Top Country Albums. After a hiatus of three years, which Bogguss devoted to her family, the country and folk singer made a comeback with the Loyal Dutchess label. Her 2011 album “American Folk Book” is a collection of songs and melodies that have influenced her in the past. The album was also accompanied by a piano sheet music and guitar chords alongside interesting stories that tell how the folk ballads came to be known.
Suzy Bogguss Rocks the Stage
The gifted singer has a special flair for interacting with her audience whenever she goes in concert. She loves performing at smaller venues where she can have more fun with her fans and sing what they want to listen. She loves to make the crowd sing along as she churns out famous folk ballads on the stage. “It kind of makes into a greatest hit because everybody knows the folk songs”, remarks Bogguss. While she has always been comfortable keeping it an on-the-spot upon-request kind of thing, Bogguss gives credit to the performance duo that accompany her on every concert. The talented singer is now preparing to perform some of her most euphoric singles at venues across America. You can witness the blessed performer in action by heading out to the music theatre as she hits your city for a stirring concert.
