Sturgill Simpson Sets the Sail on World Tour
A cliché as it may sound Sturgill Simpson brings a breath of fresh air into country. His blend of classic country sensibilities with psychedelia and rockabilly prove an antidote to today’s country music that’s all about beer and truck bros. His new album “A Sailor's Guide to Earth” is more like a love letter to his two-year old son, as he guides him how to navigate life. Simpson has penned some really powerful lyrics which according to the artist will help his son understand and know him better. For this purpose alone, Sturgill hasn’t collaborated with any other musician as the album is quite personal to him.
The album opens with one of the warmest hellos, “Welcome to Earth (Pollywog)”, in which Sturgill greets his newborn. The song captures both intimacy and excitement, setting the tone for the rest of the tracks that follow. “Breakers Roar” is another heartfelt number in which Simpson recalls the countless nights away from his son who is growing up despite his absence. Sturgill brings the same level of intimacy and comfort to his live performances as well as he takes the stage dressed down in jeans, plain t-shirt and sneakers. Fans with Sturgill Simpson Nashville tickets will be treated to a stripped down concert by the star, as he navigates through his chart-topping album. The world tour is living up to its hype, treating his fans to the time of their lives.
