Stephenie Lynn Nicks, better known by her stage name Stevie Nicks, was born on May 26, 1948. The best of her work has mostly been produced in collaboration with a band named Fleetwood Mac. Stevie Nicks stepped into the world of music at quite an early age, as her grandfather was passionate about country music. He taught her to sing and she used to perform duets with him as a child. Her boyfriend Lindsey Buckingham persuaded her to join him and his friends as a band named as Fritz. The band received a reasonable response from public for its live performances, singing with renowned musicians like Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin as well. They continued with Fritz till 1972 when they disbanded it to sing as a duo, releasing their album Buckingham Nicks in 1973. 

After going through some difficult financial times in the following years, Stevie Nicks and her boyfriend joined Fleetwood Mac in 1974. Their self titled album was released in 1974 that came out to be a success, and made these artists known to the world. Stevie broke up with her boyfriend soon but continued with Fleetwood Mac to release the second mega hit album titled Rumours. The album and many of its songs by Nicks gained international recognition and established Stevie Nicks as an international artist of great stature. 

Subsequent albums like Tusk, Bella Donna and Mirage also did good business. Tusk contained most of Stevie’s solo work that she had remained unreleased for a long time while Bella Donna contained most of her recent work. She also introduced Sharon Celani and Lori Perry in Bella Donna, the two back up singers that have been singing with her ever since. Bella Donna reached number one position on Billboard’s top 200, but the professional success came to Stevie with an upset in her personal life as her best friend Robin Anderson was diagnosed with Leukemia. Stevie married Robin’s widower after her death to look after her daughter but the couple divorced just eight months later.

In 1983 Stevie Nicks released her next album named The Wild Heart that proved to be such a huge commercial success that it was rated double platinum by RIAA. Many of its singles were rated among top positions on international charts. It was followed by another commercially successful album titled Rock a Little in 1986. After the tour promoting her new album, Stevie Nicks finally felt the need to get rid of her cocaine addiction as it was affecting her health as well as professional career. She sought medical advice for it from Betty Ford Center.

Tango in the Night was released by Fleetwood Mac in 1987, soon after which Buckingham, Stevie’s ex boyfriend, left the band, the reason being his personal issues with Stevie. Later, in 1988 the band released their Greatest Hits album, followed by the Other Side of the Mirror in 1990. These albums, as well as the late ones including Timespace, Street Angel, The Dance, Enchanted, Trouble in Shagri-la, Say You Will, Crystal Visions, Soundstage Sessions and In Your Dreams all did marvelous business, thereby making Stevie one of the best selling artists in the industry.  Her typical stage persona along with long chiffon skirts, shawls and long blonde hair give her a unique identity unlike any other, owing a great deal to her dress designer Margi Kent. She has also won a Grammys along with Fleetwood Mac and also been inducted in Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.
