After playing for nine years and charming their innumerable fans in more than 1200 shows, Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers broke up in November 2012. The band bid farewell to all their supporters in a grand tour titled, "The Hi-Ate-US Tour" that started in October and continued till November. According to Stephen Kellogg, their last gig at the Webster Hall in NYC was not only emotional but also incredibly deep as the band fascinated the audience one last time. Now Stephen Kellogg concert tickets for his solo acts are being bought by the fans.
Even as a member of the band, Stephen Kellogg’s talents were noticeable and earned him numerous fans. Born on November 28th, 1976 in Pennsylvania, this American singer’s skills were immediately recognized by critics and fans alike. After a lot of hard work, his first solo album following the breakup of the band hit the shelves on 18 June, 2013. The name of the album, "Blunderstone Rookery" is inspired by his favorite character in his favorite book, "David Copperfield". Produced by Kit Karlson, engineered by Chris Sanchez and recorded in Bridgeport Connecticut, the album is fabulous in every sense of the word.
The CD consists of 11 songs in total, each more meaningful and heartfelt than the last. It opens up with "Lost and Found," which is a wonderful acoustic number that sheds light on a person’s identity and is followed by blues rock, "The Brain is a Beautiful Thing". Then comes "Forgive Me, Forgive You" that promotes a vibe somewhat similar to Tom Petty’s with its strong beat and lyrics and "Men And Women" which a is rather interesting track that underlines the difference in the nature of men and women.
Another meaningful song in the album is "Crosses" which is a sympathetic track that deals with memorials and deaths in accidents. Heavy metal in style, the song is composed beautifully and does not fail to evoke emotions. In the song that follows this single, "I Don't Want to Die On the Road" Stephen Kellogg talks about how there is much more to life than merely traveling around creating music. With such intense numbers at the beginning, "Good Ol' Days" lightens the mood a little with its rock and roll beat. Again, breaking the calmer tunes is the song "The Best" which is a light punk bar that almost compels the listeners to sing along. The introspection however returns with the track "Good Red Wine", which talks about what can be done to save a relationship in trouble.
The most famous single in the CD is perhaps the blockbuster, "Thanksgiving" which is a 10 minute song that gives the listeners a lot to relate to. The phenomenal piece begins and ends with a choir and also entails a prayer for the world. The song takes the listeners to a journey in a man’s life from birth to death and is truly spectacular. The album finally ends with the touching single, "Ingrid's Song" which is a tribute to his mother-in-law who passed away in 2012.
All in all, the whole CD is nothing less than exceptional. Stephen Kellogg has done a phenomenal job in establishing himself as an avid songwriter and a communicator who opens his heart out to his fans. It is to promote this album that the singer is going on tours worldwide and Stephen Kellogg tour tickets are in such high demand. The singer is expected to perform all his new numbers on stage right in front of you. So grab your friends and family to witness the sensation live!
