Born in the year 1966, Lori Ann Rambough, more popularly known as Sommore, is a famous comedienne and actress born in the city of Trenton, located in New Jersey. She is the sister of Nitara Talita Long, who is a famous actress and dancer. Before trying her luck in the entertainment industry, Sommore attended the Morris Brown College after which she got her big break when she was offered a hostess position on BET’s program “Comic View”. She started working with the BET channel in 1992 and became the very first woman to host this show. In the year 1995 she was honored with the Comic of the year award by the Richard Pryor Awards. After the success of this show, Sommore moved on to becoming the hostess of Russell Simmons’ “Showtime at the Apollo” and “Def Comedy Jam”. She hosted these two television shows for a period of five years, after which she received an invitation to become a part of the “Queens of Comedy” tour that initiated in the year 2000. During this tour, Sommore was able to capture an audience of over fifty thousand people which added her name into the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest audience held by a female comedienne. With the success of this tour, a feature film was made based on the tour in the year 2001 and the movie became the longest running movie and the highest rated tour film of all time on the Showtime Network. She was also then featured on the “Latham Entertainment Presents” tour that was held in the year 2002. She was the only female comedian on this tour.
 
With television stardom, Sommore attracted many television producers and she was finally cast in a feature film in 2002. Her debut film appearance was in “Friday After Next”, after which she has been seen in numerous movies such as “A Miami Tail” that was released in 2003, “Soul Plane” of 2004, “Dirty Laundry” and “Blunts & Stunts: Class of ‘94” both of which were released in 2006 and “Sommore: The Queen Stands Alone” that came forward in 2007. This last production was her debut DVD album that sold over eight hundred thousand copies worldwide. The comedienne has made numerous guest appearances over the years appearing on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher, and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Celebrity Fight Club, The View and HBO’s Snaps, amongst numerous others.
