With an impressive history of winning 2 nominations for Grammy Awards on Collide and Comatose this band has released 8 studio albums. In their 15 years of development Skillet has gone under many lineup changes, it’s impressive past band members include, Kevin Haaland, Ben Kasica, Trey McClurkin, Lori Peters, Jonathan Salas and Ken Steorts. Covering famous genres like Rock, Christian rock/metal, alternative rock, hard rock, nu metal, they have recently experimented with symphonic metal, however in past their sound was more towards, grunge and industrial music. Entertaining its audience since 1996 this band has been every active throughout their career. It has proudly worked with labels like, Ardent, Lava, Atlantic, ForeFront and INO. Skillet has also done an associated act with Seraph.
Discography of this band has eight amazing studio albums, which include, Skillet which was released in 1996, Hey You, I Love Your Soul from 1998, Invincible in 2000, Ardent Worship in 2000, Alien Youth in 2001, moreover, their album Collide which was released in 2003 also earned it a nomination for Best Rock Gospel Album along with Comatose which was released in 2006 and got this band the same nomination in 2007 as well. Their most recent album is titled as Awake which was released in 2009. On 23rd April, 2008 Skillet got a GMA Dove Award in 2008 as the Rock Recorded Song of the Year: Comatose the award was presented to them at the thirty-ninth Annual GMA Dove Awards function. Furthermore, this band has recently won a Billboard Music Award for its album Awake, in 2011 for Top Christian Album.
Skillet their debut album, featured effective Christian music lyrics and this album was released as a CD as well as audio cassette on the famous Forefront Records along with Ardent Records. This album had a grunge rock style sound which was highly appreciated by rock music lovers. At the time of release of their debut album, Skillet was a small band comprised of only three band members which had John Cooper on vocals, piano and bass; on drums and back-up vocals it had Trey McClurkin along with Ken Steorts on back-up vocals, guitar and the guitar synth. When its other album Invincible was released in the year of 2000 the band still had its sound of electronic rock but with this album Ken Steorts who was the original guitarist for the band, left Skillet, and Kevin Haaland came into scene along with the wife of John Cooper, Korey joined Skillet on keyboards, sampling, programming and loops.
Ardent Worship was a live worship album which had 6 songs which were written by Skillet itself, as well as 4 songs which had other artists. With this like Safe With You as well as Shout To The Lord this is the only album of band which had no videos. Lori Peters was new on drums when this album was released. With its hard hitting sound of industrial rock Skillet gave its 5th album which as titled as Alien Youth and released in 2001 on Ardent Records. On the Billboard 200 the album got a position at number 141 along with securing number sixteen on the The Australian Christian Albums Chart. With tracks like Open Wounds the 6th album of this band, Collide got at number 179 on the Billboard 200 but it was at number five on the famous Top Heatseekers. The other album of this band, Comatose received a sale of more than 500,000 copies and it was certified as Gold in 2009. Skillet, Sevendust announce 'Victorious War Tour'
Skillet, For King & Country Announce Joy.UNLEASHED Tour
Music bands Skillet and For King & Country are joining hands for a 15-city tour across the US. Titled Joy.Unleashed Tour, the trek is scheduled to start with a performance in Amarillo on April 12 following which they will make stops in cities including Orlando, Jacksonville, Huntsville, San Antonio and Topeka.
In 2017, Skillet headlined the Air1 Positive Hits Tour and wrapped up their Unleashed Tour which they had begun in 2016 with special guests Thousand Foot Krutch, Devour The Day and Sick Puppies
Skillet to Headline 'Air1 Positive Hits Tour'
American Christian rock band Skillet is all set to headline the Air1 Positive Hits Tour across the US. The trek includes a total of 28 dates. It will kick off in Dayton on the 27th of September and extend into November with shows in cities such as Las Vegas, Dallas, Seattle and Houston. The lineup includes appearances by music artists such as Colton Dixon and Britt Nicole.
Skillet will be promoting their tenth studio record ‘Unleashed’ as part of the tour. The album was released via Atlantic Records in August of 2016.
