Sin Bandera is a two-piece Latin pop group that emerged from Mexico. Since their formation in 2000, they have not only gone on to dominate the Latin markets with their music but have also been able to make their impact in other countries of the world like, the United States. The duo is now setting out on a tour so, if you want to listen to its love ballads live then book your Sin Bandera tickets at your earliest.
Both, Leonel Garcia and Noel Schajris were seen trying to make it in the music industry as solo artists before they decided to form a group. Garcia spent the late 90s writing songs for notable artists like, Lynda Thomas while Schajris had already released his debut record, ‘Cita En Las Nubes’ in 1999. A year later in 2000, they met each and instantly connected due to their similar interests in music. That led them to forming Sin Bandera.
After joining forces, the duo began to work on its debut self-titled studio album with producer, Áureo Baqueiro. The record saw the light of day in 2002 and apart from selling over a million copies in Mexico and Argentina, it was awarded double platinum certification by the RIAA. Moreover, it also got them a Latin Grammy Award in the category of the ‘Best Pop Album by a Duo or Group with Vocals’ in the same year. Not just that but the studio effort also netted a Grammy nomination for the ‘Best Latin Pop Album.’
‘Sin Bandera’ included some very catchy songs on the track-list including, Entra En Mi Vida. It not only became a number one hit in Mexico but was also used as the main theme of the Mexican telenovela, ‘Cuando Seas Mia.’ In addition to that, the album received four and a half stars out of five from AllMusic.
Making the world sing
The success of, ‘Sin Bandera’ turned Garcia and Schajris into superstars. A few months after the release of their first studio album, the group recorded a song, Amor Real in 2013 which served as the official theme of the soap opera of the same name. They then came out with their second studio album, ‘De Viaje’ later in the year. The album became a major hit worldwide and sold millions of copies in the U.S, Argentina and Mexico. It also spawned singles like, Mientes tan Bien, Que Lloro, Magia and Si La Ves out of which the former reached the first spot in Mexico.
Following the release of, ‘De Viaje,’ the duo went on the road to play shows in countries like, the United States, Chile, Bolivia, Columbia and Ecuador. They also performed for the first time at Mexico City’s Auditorio Nacional in 2004. One year later in 2005, the group’s third studio effort, ‘Mañana’ hit the shelves. The record was packed with hit songs like, Suelta mi Mano, Que me Alcance la Vida and Junto a Ti and had fans hooked to their music.
Sin Bandera’s new album, ‘Pasado’ came out in 2006. Produced by, Mario Domm, Áureo Baqueiro and Jay de la Cueva, the record went platinum in Mexico. This was the last studio album that they released before they decided to pursue their solo careers. After their separation, one compilation record, ‘Hasta Ahora’ hit the shelves in 2007. In 2015, Noel Schajris and Leonel Garcia reunited.
