Inspired by the grimy gay nightlife scene of the City of New York, they decided on their band to be called Scissor Sisters. The band hit the musical charts in 2004. It was at this time that they made it big by releasing their self titled debut album. Making their way into Australian, Canadian and European musical charts the scissor Sisters were catapulted to amazing, unseen heights of stardom. Their fame reached across borders making them a sensation among music lovers. It was the best selling album in their “spiritual home” United Kingdom. Hit singles from the album include, “Take Your mama”, “Comfortably Numb” and “Laura.”

This second album was launched in 2006 called, Ta-Dah. Following the legacy this album did exceptionally well as well. Receiving rave reviews from fans as well as critics the album included songs like, “Land of a Thousand Words” and “I Don’t Feel Like Dancing.” Their next album featured a slight shift towards a more club-oriented sound. It was called Night Work and was released in 2010. Over a very short time span the Scissor Sisters have accumulated a huge fan base as we get to come across various fan societies on official forums. Names of some include, “Scissor Sisters Party Bus”, “Ana Matronic Appreciation Society” and the “Jake Groupies.”

The Scissor Sisters have worked and collaborated with various other renowned artists such as, Kylie Minogue and Elton John. Bono, a very notable figure has described the band as “The best pop group in the world at the moment.” This manifestation of public appreciation was done way back in 2004, which means that these rockers have remained in the big picture for a very long time now! The founding members of the band are Jake Shears and Scott, Babydaddy, “Hoffman”. These two friends had met in College at Kentucky. The rest of the band members came in later one by one and gradually a wonderful band came into existence. They started off as playing in the gay clubs in New York City and were ultimately discovered. It was then that they started producing albums. They might have started off by doing covers like the dance version of Pink Floyd’s Comfortably Numb, but their originals like “Tits on the Radio” gave them that slight tinge of originality that was missing.
