Return to Winter Garden

School of Rock brings Lloyd Weber back to the venue where his blockbuster musical “Cats” ran for eighteen years. The School of Rock will have a star studded premiere at New York's Winter Garden Theatre on November 9, 2015 and will stage unlimited performances till next year. Based on a book by Julian Fellowes, creator of the famous TV series “Downtown Abbey”, the musical has been garnering huge media attention. The show will be directed by Laurence Connor who also co-directed “Les Miserables”, Broadway's all-time musical hit. With a talented crew and a plot largely borrowed from a critically acclaimed Hollywood movie, the School of Rock tickets will sell out in no time.

A Boisterous Rocker

The musical features an exuberant and wannabe rock star Dewey Finn, who fakes his way into a high-end prep school as a substitute music teacher. When Finn realizes the musical talents of his students, he urges the fifth-graders to form a rock band of their own. The all-time favorite Jack Black movie is a comedic juggernaut. Whether Broadway will be able to replicate the massive fanfare or not is yet to be seen, but it’s going to be a surefire bundle of entertainment for theatergoers.

The Lovable Lead

The musical just unveiled some of its cast members, including the all-important lead performer who plays the lovable Dewey Finn. Introducing the brawny and bearded Alex Brightman. The 28-year old actor last made a stage appearance in “Matilda” and things haven't changed much this time around. Brightman was recently spotted at the Gramercy Theatre churning out some fist-thumping rock numbers from the musical, together with his adolescent co-stars. The actor, who's quite used to working with kids aged between 10 and 14, appears to be the perfect choice for Connor's rambunctious rock star. “I asked [director Laurence Connor] if I should gain weight, and he said, ‘No, you are wonderfully out of shape!”, muses Brightman.

Lloyd Weber chose actress Sierra Boggess to play the school principal Rosalie in his upcoming musical. The actress is famous for her spell as Christine in the celebrated “The Phantom of the Opera”. Theatre lovers are eager to see the blessed actress perform alongside Alex Brightman in this new epic drama that will grace New York City in November. Some of the kids in the lineup include Taylor Caldwell, Aaron Fig, Bobbi Mackenzie and Isabella Russo.
