After being part of this band, he started off his solo career in 2000 with the album, Heartbraker, an album that instantly became critically acclaimed across many parts of America. The next year, he released his second album, Gold, an album that was again very successful whose first single, New York, New York, was a massive hit alongwith its music video.
 
Gold’s lead single contained the song New York, New York, whose music video was played a lot on two of music’s most popular channels, VH1 and MTV. This video made Ryan Adams even more popular and exposed him to a larger audience, all immediately falling in love with his sensational music. In 2002, Ryan Adams released his next album, Demolition, an album that featured songs he had made over the course of his career.
 
At the same time, Ryan Adams produced an album for Jesse Malin as well as formed another band, The Finger, with this artist. This band went on to release to different EPs that were later on released as an album.
