Date & Time

Rob Pope is one of those artists who are constantly striving to push the boundaries of musical norm. He concentrates on playing the base guitar, and over the years has formed a pretty effective team with his brother Ryan, playing in various bands. His works is genuinely original and fresh. At the same time is range is quite impressive making it hard to firmly classify him in a single genre. But for fans, it doesn’t really matter what genre his music falls into. His music is simply splendid and a big time treat.

Pope started his career with the small time local outfit, Kingpin. However over the years, he has worked with a number of talented artists and bands on various projects and has been building up a very impressive profile. Some of the acts that he has been associated with include acts The Get Up Kids, White Whale, Koufax, Reggie and the Full Effect, The New Amsterdam’s and (last but not the least) Tijuana Crime Scene.

Rob’s first major band was The Get up Kids; he worked on no less than five different releases with them. These include Four Minute Mile, Something to Write Home About, On a Wire, Guilt Show and There Are Rules. The Get up Kids were a significant band in rock history. They are considered one of the foremost influences in the 90s’ wave of emo rock music. They toured with some of the biggest alternative and punk rock bands of the nineties like Weezer and the Bay Area greatest, Greenday. The Get up Kids build up a solid fans base in North America and a growing influence in Europe. They also went on independently on tours both on the local circuit as well as internationally in Japan and across Europe. In parallel, to The Get up Kids, Pope was a member of the band with Tijuana Crime Scene whom he worked on the critically acclaimed release, Change of Venue in 2001. When the Get Up Kids finally called it quits, Rod joined forces with Koufax.

Rob Pope was a part of Koufax for some time; his brother was also part of the band too. Together they made a mighty rhythm section and put their hearts and souls into the 2005 release, Hard Times are in Fashion. The record received rave reviews in many indie rock circles. Pope also has a short sting with While Whale, the accomplished indie rock act. The release was significant for Rob, as he contributed significantly to the overall theme, sound and mood of the record. Over the years Rob has also worked with critically acclaimed indie rock band Spoon. He was deeply involved with the work on the 2007 album, Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga and the 2010 album called Transference.

Rob Pope and his brother Ryan set up The Black Lodge Studios in their home state Kansas. They had helped incubate many a formative Indie rock bands in the recent years. Rob has always been seen as very loyal to his first love, alternative and indie rock themes. He had many chances to follow in the footsteps of many popular indie bands. These bands went big and commercial in the last decade, but Rob has stayed true to his craft. In the past few years he worked with various bands has been released through Indie records labels including Merge Records, Vagrant Records and Doghouse Records.

Rob Pope’s collaboration with popular and aspiring indie and alternative bands allowed it to establish as an inspiration. His live side was especially very entertaining; unlike most indie act who become acoustic and light while performing live, Pope delivers a raw, pounding impact of indie. This sound has become Pop’s signature and many fans came to concerts just to hear him perform live . Rob Pope tickets offer you a great opportunity to see him some of his hit and rare songs. He will be on a nationwide tour this summer, so catch him on a leg near you.
