Where Did All Start?

The two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee was born in Highgate, London, in 1945. He began his musical career on the ‘60s and joined the Birmingham based R&B outfit called Jimmy Powell & the Five Dimensions in 1963. Later, he joined a British blues band, The Hoochie Coochie Men, and recorded ‘Good Morning Little Schoolgirl’ in 1964. This single failed to chart and the group soon morphed into Steampacket. The band went on tour with The Walker Brothers and The Rolling Stones during the summer of 1965. Unfortunately, Steampacket was short-lived and the members eventually parted ways in 1966. Stewart joined Shotgun Express, which released one track before disbanding. He then became a member of The Jeff Beck Group in 1966.

Stewart Climbs To Stardom

The singer stepped into the limelight after joining The Jeff Beck Group. The group’s debut album, Truth, came out in 1968, and became a hit in Britain and America. The band also toured these countries to promote their music, and while doing so, they gained a loyal fan following. They released their sophomore studio album, Beck-Ola, in 1969. This album was also a commercial success. However, the group eventually split up and Stewart later joined an English rock band called Faces.

Going Solo

Stewart also began working on his solo career and released his first record, An Old Raincoat Won’t Ever Let You Down, in 1969. The album featured a blend of rock and R&B influences, which helped Stewart create a distinctive stripped down rock & roll sound. Although the album failed to chart in the United Kingdom, it did introduce Stewart as a creative musician. He then released another album, Every Picture Tells a Story, in 1971. This record feared hit tracks including ‘Maggie May’ and ‘Reasons to Believe,’ which helped the album receive airplay. In 1972, Steward released his fourth studio album, Never a Dull Moment, which was followed by Smiler in 1974. The singer continued to release several hit albums over the next couple of years.

Milestones That Calls For A Celebration

Stewart celebrated his 50th year as a solo musician last year with the release of his recent album, You’re in My Heart: Rod Stewart with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, which features a remixed version of his old songs. The record was a roaring success and climbed to the top of the charts in Scotland, Ireland, and the UK. It also peaked to #1 on the U.S Billboard Classical Albums Chart. These major milestones call for a major celebration – hence Stewart has decided to embark on a summer tour to celebrate his achievements.
