Ever since rising to global success with his breakthrough hit Jessies Girl, Rick Springsteen has been nothing but a pop sensation of the present day pop scene. Hailing from Sydney, Australia Springfield has established himself as a celebrated musician and an actor. Springfield gained popularity as a musician in early eighties when came up with Jessies Girl, which became the biggest of the genre during 80s. Moreover, Springfield is also well famed for his role of Doctor Noah Drake which he played on a TV Series called General Hospital.
Springfield had a spark for music from his early ages, which is why he decided to drop out of school to pursue music as a professional career. After dropping out of his high school in 1967, Springfield joined a band named Rock House, where he was the vocalist and the guitarist. Springfield embarked on his first tour to Vietnam with the band after they renamed themselves to MPD, Ltd. Almost after two years, Springfield joined another rock band named Zoot and took the place of the guitarist Roger Hicks until the band broke up later in 1971. The following year, after the breakup, Springfield decided to head over to Hollywood California, where he started enjoying some mainstream exposure after releasing his debut single titled Speak to the Sky. The singles peaked at the #14 spot on the Billboard chart and paved way for the release of his debut album titled Beginnings. But the success of his following album was hindered a bit due to some rumors.
Later on Springfield came up with his third studio album after he signed with Columbia Records in 1973. But still he wasnt able score a charting album. Also around that period, Springfield featured as himself on Mission: Magic, a cartoon series that aired on ABC-TV. From there onwards, Springfield mainly focused on his career as an actor during the late 70s, and didnt come up with any charting hit. Springfield came up with another studio album titled Tao later in 1985, and prior to that he also performed on the Live Aid Charity Concert amongst other fellow musicians. After the release of Tao, Springfield decided to take a break from his career as a recording artist and give proper time to his family. Apart from that, he also did so to cope with his depression.
Springfield rose to the fame as an actor when he starred as Dr. Noah Drake on TV Series called General Hospital back in 1981. During that time he had also record his studio Album titled Working Class Dog which was released on RCA Records. Although it wasnt expected by Springfield, but Working Class Dog did pretty well and even scored Springfields breakthrough hit, Jessies Girl which peaked the music charts at the #1 spot. That breakthrough hit in return, also helped his acting career as after the fame of it, the ratings of General Hospital also sky rocketed.
Later as his acting career progressed Springfield also appeared in a movie that he made called Hard to Hold, and also appeared in a couple of theatrical productions as well.
So far Springfield has released a total of 16 studio albums with the latest one being My Precious Little One: Lullabies for a New Generation, which was released in 2009. For his work, Springfield has also been nominated on a number of occasions. He won a Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance and an American Music Award for Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist. He also received two nominations at Grammy Awards for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance and Best Male Rock Vocal Performance.
