The record saw its release in the year 1997 and was named Legendary Tales. The album included several different styles of music such as heavy metal, baroque, and classical music. Rhapsody of Fire released their second album in the year 1998 under the title of Symphony of Enchanted Lands. This too became a success and the band started to gain a fan following. In the year 2000, the band embarked on their very first tour. They started in Sweden and performed at various places with other acts such as the Sonata Arctica, Stratovarius and more. The same year, the band released their first single. It was named Holy Thunderforce and it was met with success. The next album of the band was named Dawn of Victory and this was to become their most popular album so far. It presented the group in a completely new light and featured a more higher tempo and aggressive sound. The album made it to the German charts, going on to be tanked thirty two. In Japan, the record made it to the fourth spot. Rhapsody of Fire then went on a tour of Europe and South America in the summer of the year 2001, where they performed at numerous places and gained a large fan base.
 
In February of the following year, Rhapsody of Fire released Power of Dragonflame. It went on to become an incredible success all over the world and the group became an international sensation.
