Exploring the Connection Between God & Life
An eclectic lineup featuring talented vocalists and multi-instrumentalists, Rend Collective hails from Northern Ireland. Comprising of five members, these good friends were united through their mutual and inherent desire to come up with spiritually substantive material. They joined hands to “figure out their faith” and in no time hundreds of people got involved and collectively they explored the connection between God, life and community.
For many years the five-piece kept their music in Northern Ireland only and later felt the call to step out. Rend Collective decided to enter the unknown and head out to reach more people. Today the band has grown into an international success and tours around the world with other Christian music stars like Chris Tomlin, Tenth Avenue North, MercyMe and Lecrae. Rend Collective aims not only to bring freshness to congregational worship but also to spread the message of faith. For this reason they have collaborations with church leaders like Louie Giglio, Francis Chan and Shane Claiborne.
Introducing a New Genre of “Organic Worship”
The members Gareth Gilkeson, Chris Llewellyn, Ali Gilkeson, Patrick Thompson and Stephen Mitchell consider themselves not just a band but a collective of people like a family. They call their music an act of Organic Worship that displays a natural and honest connection with God.
Rend Collective have proven themselves as a talented and creative ensemble. Full of imagination, they use children’s toys and other handmade stuff as instruments. The band’s first album “Organic Family Hymnal” features songs that they recorded around a campfire on beach and a rendition of some tracks was also available on their third album “Campfire”. The band has pursued with the unexpected and many colorful presentations. One of their music videos was recorded on a turbulent Irish Sea on an operational fishing boat.
Rend Collective have come a long way since their formative years. The phenomenal crooners have made it to the world stage as dominant voices in modern worship. Since inception the band has gone from strength to strength and in 2014 came with up their fourth record “The Art of Celebration”. Topping the US Christian charts, it peaked at 13th position on the Billboard 200. It was lauded in words like “a prefect effort where passion meets emotion”. Several critics have called it spiritually rich and engaging collection of worship anthems.
