Born in Nashua, LaMontagne is a singer-songwriter who started performing in late 90s. He recorded ten songs for his first demo album titled “Raycharles LaMontagne demo.” He produced three EPs in the subsequent years before debuting in 2004 with the release of “Trouble.” The album was recorded with Ethan Johns and featured performances by Jennifer Stills and Sara Watkins. It sold more than 500,000 albums worldwide and was followed by a 2005 tour during which LaMontagne performed at the Austin City Limits.
LaMontagne’s music has been featured in a number of films and TV shows. His song “All the Wild Horses” was first made the soundtrack of “Rescue Me” and later was featured in “The Boys Are Back.” The title track from his first studio album appeared in “Alias,” a TV show, another single “Jolene” in film “The Town” and “Hold You in My Arms” in “She’s The Man.”
To date, he has released a total of four studio albums. His third album “Gossip in the Grain” peaked at number three on the Billboard 200 and sold more than sixty thousand copies. In 2010, he came up with his first self-produced album “God Willin' & the Creek Don't Rise” which earned him his fist Grammy Award in 2011. Currently, LaMontagne is gearing up for his fifth album “Supernova” which will be released in May 2014.
