It’s on! Finally after an extended hiatus, Puscifer is back and will be backing their album release with a North American tour. Titled “Money Shot”, the album is scheduled for October release and the band treated the fans to a new video of the song Grand Canyon. The six weeks trek will kick off from Phoenix on November 1 at the Monster Mash Festival and the frontman Maynard James Keenan is building up excitement for the fans. Called Puscifer’s Modus Operand, Keenan has promised fans a big show and is leaving clues here and there as to what it might include. The statement below has encouraged countless rock fans to buy Puscifer tickets in advance. “As usual, we prefer to Show rather than Tell. Odds are if you've been a fan of the diverse nature of our performances in the past, you'll want to go ahead and place those bets.”
Electro Rock Band-Meets-Comedy Troupe
Man of many talents, Maynard James Keenan has cemented his place in the alternative rock, metal art rock music scene. Despite being the leading singer and songwriter of bands A Perfect Circle and Tool, he recorded an album under the name Puscifer and started a new wave of eclectic music. Keenan made a cameo under the fictional name Puscifer in Mr. Show, HBO’s sketch comedy series and from there found the inspiration to record under the moniker. According to the artist, it’s “the space where my Id, Ego, and Anima all come together to exchange cookie recipes”.
In 2003, Keenan joined hands with Danny Lohner and recorded the single “Rev 22:20” under the name Puscifer. After four years, a complete record was released and it made it to the 25th position on the US charts. Keenan opted for a rotating lineup that allowed him to work with likeminded artists and initially he collaborated with Tim Alexander, Brad Wilk, Tim Commerford, Trey Gunn, Lisa Germano, Jonny Polonsky and Milla Jovovich.
Keenan’s Musical Exploration
One of the main reasons why Maynard James Keenan started recording under Puscifer was that it allowed him to explore various styles and see where the sound would take him. Leaving behind the angst of Tool and A Perfect Circle’s esoteric darkness, Puscifer’s albums have an autumnal feel to them and are synth-heavy. Keenan’s outstanding vocals add a lot of drama to the mix and the result is a classic entertainment effort. Albums like “Conditions of My Parole” allow the listeners to look into the creative mind of Keenan and enjoy both his humorous side and eclectic music taste.
Exuding sophistication with his approach, Puscifer has raised the bar for many aggressive rockers. The album features popular number like Tiny Monsters that builds steam slowly by introducing bits of percussion and synth and taking things to the top with blazing guitars. Horizons used glitchy electronics and mournful banjo and slow beats dominate the Tumbleweed.
New Album, Epic New Song “Grand Canyon” and North American Tour
Growing excitement and immense fan following has encouraged the sales of Puscifer tickets. The 10-track album “Money Shot” has transformed simple ideas and conversations into sonic landscapes. Other than the title track and Grand Canyon, other songs to be featured on the album include Galileo, Agostina and Smoke and Mirrors.
Puscifer is known for their grand concerts that always feature top class music, impromptu sessions and surprises. Puscifer comes up with a Broadway level production that matches their music and creates a unique ambiance. The band treats the crowd to an enlightening experience that’s filled with quality music and lots of joy.
