You don’t see many R&B quartets anymore, even though they were the ‘it’ thing of the nineties. Many such groups came up during that time, yet very few found any mainstream success. However, there is no denying the impact created by 112, who became perhaps the most popular R&B music act of the era, and sold millions of albums worldwide.
In the beginning
The members of 112 originally came together when they were either in high school or middle school. By the time they graduated they had developed their unique sound, which they used to get an audition with recording studios. After impressing their producers, they signed their first contract and subsequently came out with their self titled debut album in the year1996.
Even though the album did very well, what really put the group on the map was their collaboration on a song with famous rapper Puff Daddy. The song, called “’I’ll Be Missing You” came out in 1997 and topped the music charts in over ten countries. It was also certified three times platinum in the US, UK and Australia.
Ascent to the top
Since their debut all those years ago, the group has released five albums altogether, of which three have gone platinum in the US and two have made it into the top ten of the Billboard charts. After years on the sidelines, the group recently decided to get back on stage, and here is your chance to watch them as well.
