The R&B genre is considered music for the soul. It is a mixture of various music styles, led by strong vocals, which can create songs that have the ability to make you dance and cry. Over the years, some of the greatest singers the music industry has ever seen have primarily been R&B artists, like Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and the hit group 112. 112 rose to prominence during the nineties and to this day people consider these Grammy Award winning artists among the best in the business.
Time to move on up
The group was formed by Reginald Finley, a high school student, who used to sing with two middle school students Daron Jones and Michael Keith. As they grew older, they added Marvin Scandrick and Quinnes "Q" Parker to their lineup and decided to call themselves ‘Forte’ at the time.
However soon after, Finley left the group, around the same time that they got their chance to audition for a recording company. They performed at Atlanta's Club 112, and decide to adopt its name after they received their first recording contract.
