Pop Evil has hit the road with the Rock ‘N’ Roll Now Tour. The US trek will have the Michigan rockers perform at a number of venues. These include the Summit Music Hall in Denver and the House of Blues in Chicago.
The musicians that formed the band Pop Evil previously played as members of various other music bands in Michigan. Among them includes a band called TenFive. Pop Evil released an independent album titled ‘War of the Roses’ in 2004 and an EP ‘Ready or Not’ in the year 2006. The latter comprised what turned out to be a concert favorite number ‘Somebody Like You.’ They also recorded a music video of the track featuring Britt Koth and Rossi Morreale.
The sound and performing style of Pop Evil was inspired by that of Soundgarden, Pearl Jam and Kiss. Their approach and music soon led them to be ranked alongside well-known modern rock acts such as Puddle of Mudd and Shinedown.
‘Lipstick on the Mirror’
Pop Evil released their debut music album ‘Lipstick on the Mirror in August, 2008. It was first released by Pazzo Music and later on re-released by Universal Republic the following year (2009). The record comprises radio favorites such as ‘100 n a 55,’ ‘Somebody Like You’ and ‘Hero.’ All the songs on the album were written by the musicians themselves. The song ‘100 in a 55’ reached the top ten on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart while the 27th spot on the US Rock Songs chart. Other popular songs on the record include ‘Breathe’ and ‘Another Romeo & Juliet.’
‘War of the Angels’
The first single of Pop Evil’s second studio album ‘War of the Angels’ was released in September, 2010. It was played on a number of important occasions such as the NHL Network for the Stanley Cup Finals in 2011 and a number of episodes of SportsCenter on ESPN and NASCAR on Fox.
Just after the New Year, in January of 2013, Pop Evil began recording for their third music album in Chicago with the renowned Grammy nominated producer Johnny K. The record was titled ‘Onyx’ and it debuted at the 39th spot on the Billboard 200 while at the ninth spot on the Independent Albums chart. ‘Onyx’ sold 10,000 copies within the first week of its release. The song ‘Trenches’ won the Radio Contraband Rock Radio Award for the ‘Song of the Year.’ Apart from ‘Trenches,’ ‘Onyx’ comprised popular songs such as ‘Goodbye My Friend,’ ‘Behind Closed Doors’ and ‘Torn to Pieces.’
‘Up’ is the fourth and most recent album by Pop Evil. It was released via eOne Music in August of 2015. It reached the top spot of the US Independent Albums chart and the top ten of the Rock Albums. Its song ‘Footsteps’ topped the Mainstream Rock Songs chart with ‘Ways to get High’ and ‘Take it All’ making it to the second and fourth spot on the chart respectively. The album itself topped the US Independent Albums chart and reached the 25th position on the Billboard 200. The band members consider ‘Up’ the best contribution of their music career so far.
