Alice in Chains to Rock PointFest
What makes the 2018 edition of PointFest so special is the live performance by Alice in Chains. They are one of the most successful alternative metal acts around and have sold more than fourteen million records solely in the United States. They have also received a couple of Revolver Golden Gods Awards.
Alice in Chains began their career by coming out with their first studio effort, ‘Facelift’ in 1990. It received 3.5/5 stars from AllMusic and was ranked at the second spot on Ozzy Osbourne’s list of the, ’10 Favorite Metal Albums.’ Their next studio project, ‘Dirt’ came out two year later and was certified quadruple platinum by the RIAA. That was followed by their third eponymous record which climbed to the first spot on the Billboard 200.
The band’s fifth record, ‘The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here’ came out in 2013. No new studio album has been released by the quartet since then but they are now going to make it up to their fans by delivering a power packed performance at the PointFest.
Blue October To Bring The House Down
Joining Alice in Chains at the PointFest will be Texas based alternative rock outfit Blue October. No strangers to powerhouse performances, they began their career in the late ‘90s. Since then, their music has not only made them into superstars in the United States but also in different parts of the globe.
Blue October have spawned eight studio albums including, ‘Foiled.’ It received critical acclaim and was certified platinum in the United States and Canada. Moreover, the album offered two singles, Hate Me and Into the Ocean both of which sold over a million copies in the U.S. The group’s last three records, ‘Any Man in America,’ ‘Sway’ and ‘Home’ all peaked at the first spot on the Top Alternative Albums chart.
The quintet has now finished work on its ninth studio effort, ‘I Hope You’re Happy’ which is scheduled to hit the markets on June 8, 2018. They have also released the title-track from their upcoming record which climbed to the thirty third spot on the Alternative Songs chart.
Stone Temple Pilots To Deliver a Powerful Performance
Another famous band that will be sharing the stage with Alice in Chains and Blue October at the PointFest will be Stone Temple Pilots. They released their first studio record, ‘Core’ in 1992 and became stars overnight. It climbed to the third spot in the U.S. and was certified eight times platinum in the country. Moreover, the record gave a single, Plush which earned them a Grammy for the ‘Best Hard Rock Performance.’
The band later went on to spawn five more successful records out of which, ‘Purple’ debuted at the first spot on the Billboard 200. It was also included in the Loudwire’s list of the, ’10 Best Hard Rock Albums of 1994.’ Stone Temple Pilots now have one new studio record in the pipeline which they plan to release soon. So, don’t be surprised if they decide to perform a few unreleased songs from their upcoming record live at the festival.
