Sonny Sandoval, Marcos Curiel, Traa Daniels and Wuv Bernardo, band members of P.O.D believe that music comes from passion and they practice what they preach. The band’s central idea is the same. It was there from the time the groupstarted off in 1992 up till the time they released their eighth and latest album and will stay the same in future as well. In the two decades of their music career, 10 million albums of the group have been sold. Moreover, the band has succeeded in getting three Grammy nominations, four of their music videos have gone viral and they have given more than a dozen radio hits – all with a proportional demand of P.O.D tickets over the years.
P.O.D originated from the jam sessions of Curiel and Bernardo. They called themselves Eschatos and played covers of Slayer and Metallica at keg parties. Sandoval joined the band in an attempt to keep himself focused to his newly found faith in Christianity after seeing his mother encounter a fatal illness. The band’s first major album was The Fundamental Elements of Southtown which came after three records they released themselves. This album brought mainstream success to the band and also went on to receive a platinum certification in 2000. Satellite was the album that followed this one, adding to their success. The record gave out hit singles "Youth of the Nation" and "Alive" and landed a triple platinum certification. The band has six major label albums while two independent albums with Murdered Love their latest release.
Even after doing really well, P.O.D went on a lengthy hiatus after the release of their 2008 album When Angles & Serpents Dance. The band members described changes in the record as the reason of their hiatus and to give some time to their personal and family lives. According to them, they do not make music to pay their bills or tour just for the sake of touring. They make music because that’s what they want to do. Fortunately for the band, their time off did not take away much and they were back in the limelight soon after returning.
The band’s main focus revolves around the idea of born-again Christians and their songs give messages of faith. The name P.O.D is inspired from the banking term "Payable on Death" which has connections with the Christian theology stating that Christian’s debts to God have been paid off since the death of Jesus on the cross. Apart from the 3 Grammy nominations, P.O.D has also received a nomination for American Music Awards while winning one Echo Awards and two San Diego Music Awards.
P.O.D has never feared experimenting with their music. That is why the band’s music is a mix of pop, rock, reggae, hip-hop and even Latin. A few of their earlier albums have rap metal sounds and then they evolved into producing nu-metal and alternative rock sounds infused with reggae for which they became the most famous. Similarly, the music on their seventh album had none of the nu-metal or rap metal sounds but was a combination of reggae rock, and Latin-influenced alternative rock. The band’s Music trends have always kept on changing but P.O.D’s fan base has never stopped following them, in fact, has only increased with time. And for that, they are rewarded with cheap P.O.D tickets in addition to the wonderful time they have at the live concert of the band. P.O.D takes it influences from notable names in the music industry including U2, Metallica, Bob Marley, Santana, The Police, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Rage against the Machine and Jane’s addiction.
"Goodbye for Now", "Youth of the Nation", "Alive" and "Southtown" are some of the many hits of the band whose live renditions fans get to listen with P.O.D concert tickets . The band has toured not only in their country but also internationally. Their live performances have been described as extremely thrilling by the fans who love watching P.O.D on stage.
