Since 1983-84 season till 2005-06 Doc Severinsen was the leading orchestra pop conductor while Bobby McFerrin, Sandy Duncan, Peter Nero and Marvin Hamlisch are amongst few guests who have showed up on the pop artists guest list. While Michael Christie has been named as the best music director in 2005 of Phoenix Symphony, the orchestra performs for more than 70,000 students belonging to almost 275 schools each year. With such massive following and respect given to the orchestra members, the training and extensive learning is bound to take place thus refining he skills of the orchestra members further more. The figures soar each year as the Symphony orchestra visits more of the southwestern United States and its 75 member orchestra travels and showers its symphonies through out the central Arizona as well.
